Your Online Academic Support Resources

While your instructor is your primary course contact and source of instruction, you will also need to utilize the other areas within the college to have the best opportunity for online learning success.  It is crucial to take advantage of these services, especially when you need help. Knowing where to find that help is the first step. You are not on this journey alone. If you have a question, need support or information, there are individuals throughout the college ready to help you.

Take the time to familiarize yourself with these areas of the college and their services. Knowing where to go and who to contact when you need help is very important.

Library

The LLCC Library is the central hub for student research support at LLCC. The library provides students with access to physical and electronic books, articles, research databases, technology equipment and many more services. Faculty librarians and library staff are available to help students use the collections and services. You do not need to be on campus to request or receive help in locating materials, conducting research, or getting support. The LLCC Library is available and ready to assist you around the clock. Online students can receive research assistance on papers and projects from faculty librarians. Librarians can be reached through email and phone during regular hours and by video chat through appointment.

The library also provides several research tutorials to help you with your studies. Some of these modules cover general research issues, such as evaluating and citing information, while others show detailed steps needed to search specific online resources. Center for Academic Success 

The LLCC Center for Academic Success provides programs, services, and resources that promote academic student success. Students may work with dedicated Academic Success Professionals in the Center for Academic Success to improve their understanding of course content and learning strategies, such as time management, study techniques, and test anxiety. Online students may meet with professional and peer tutors through Microsoft Teams to work on course content. Online students should contact the LLCC Center for Academic Success at 217-786-2396 or by sending an email to cas@llcc.edu to request an online appointment with an academic success professional and peer tutors.

In addition to support from the Center for Academic Success, online students at LLCC can access live online tutoring for a variety of subjects free of charge through Brainfuse Links to an external site.. Brainfuse tutoring is available 24/7 and you can find direct access to Brainfuse in the Canvas learning management system.  For questions about Brainfuse contact the Center for Academic Success. 

The Writing Center 

The Writing Center offers a variety of services, all focused on helping you improve your writing skills. Highly trained Writing Center Specialists are available during any of the center’s hours to help you with questions about grammar, citing sources, formatting a paper, or other concerns about writing assignments for any course. Online students may schedule a live online appointment by contacting the writing center at 217-786-2341 or by email at writingcenter@llcc.edu. As you approach any type of writing assignment contact the Writing Center for support.
